Warm greetings, my name is Andrea Smith, our staff representative on the Discovery School Board of Trustees. I am really looking forward to working with the members of the Board to support open communication with the staff, and keep the staff up-to-date with the important work the board do to support positive learning outcomes at Discovery School. I’m also a member on the DSPTA and want to work to strengthen the working relationship with our wonderful and generous parent volunteers.

I have been on the teaching staff at Discovery School since 2019, teaching across the school and I feel privileged to work alongside dedicated colleagues at our school. I’ve been teaching since 2005 both here in NZ, and overseas in England. Currently I work part-time at Discovery School as I have three children, two who attend Discovery School, and a toddler which I am forever chasing.

My husband and I also own a Kitchen Design and Manufacturing Business which I work alongside him keeping the admin and accounts in order.

We are very local to school, and can often be heard on the walkways chasing after the scooters, biking and walking our puppy. We are also renovating our own house to add an extra bedroom and bathroom. Definitely needed with a family of five.
