I took up the position of principal at Discovery School at the beginning of 2022 and it is a privilege to work alongside the staff and other board members in this leadership role. I started my teaching career in 1994 and have taught across a range of school types, here in Wellington and in London. I have taught all year levels across Year 1-8 and the best part of the job is seeing the joy of learning in classrooms. I recently worked in a part-time secondment in the Curriculum Futures Team at the Ministry of Education.
I moved to Discovery after 11 years as principal at Pinehaven School in Upper Hutt where I live with my husband (Simon), son (Marshall) and two cats (Misty & Marlow). In my spare time, I enjoy reading, walking, and spending time with whānau and friends. My focus for our school is to ensure the staff are well supported and equipped to provide quality learning programmes for students. The job is varied and the environment in which we work seems to be increasingly challenging as the world revolves around us. Nothing like a good challenge! I'm always here as a point of communication for the Board and am committed to working in partnership with our community.
